How Do You Collect Lottery Winnings in Oregon?

In-Person Claim

  • Any Lottery agent: you can go to any lottery retailer in Oregon to claim certain prizes in person such as:

    Jackpot drawing, keno, and scratch-it prizes of $1 - $600.

    Video lottery winnings of up to $1,250 which can be redeemed at the retail store where the ticket was won.

    Winners of this prize have to claim their prize within 28 days of when the ticket was purchased.

  • Prize Payments Centers: You can walk in or schedule an appointment to claim prizes between $600 - $50,000 at any of the two prize payment centers: Salem or Wilsonville.

  • Be sure to go along with your signed original winning ticket and if possible, an already filled prize claim form. You can also always fill out one when you arrive there.

Mail-in Claim

  • Follow the steps below to mail your claim for winning tickets:

  • Sign your winning ticket back.

  • Fill the Winner Claim Form. Ensure you have a copy of your own for records sake.

  • Put the signed original winning ticket and your Winner Claim Form in an envelope.

  • Send it via mail to the Lottery's mailing address mentioned below.

Drop Box

  • The Oregon Lottery Headquarters now has a secure drop box where winners can drop in their prize claims 24/7.

  • Follow the steps below to use the drop box prize claiming option:

  • Sign the back of your winning lottery ticket

  • Fill out the Winner Claim Form. Ensure that you have a copy of your own for records sake.

  • Put both your signed original winning lottery ticket and the completed Winner Claim Form in an envelope.

  • Put the envelope in the drop box

  • Note: Regardless of when you leave your claim in the drop box, it will be processed during a weekday. Winners will typically receive their payments via mail within 14 days.

All lottery prizes worth $1,500 or above will deduct an 8% state tax withholding by the Oregon Lottery.


For prizes exceeding $5,000 from Non-Video Lottery games, the Oregon Lottery shall withhold 24% federal tax and 8% state tax.


If you're a non-resident alien winner, then 30% will deduct from all prize amounts as federal withholding tax. If the prize is $1,500 or above, an 8% Oregon State tax shall be withheld.
